Heather Kintzley
Position 1

Heather Kintzley was elected to Position 1 in November 2009 and re-elected to a second term in November 2013. As a fourth-generation Kennewick High School graduate and long-term resident of Kennewick, Heather has deep roots in the community and is raising a family here. Heather was motivated to run for a seat on the Kennewick School Board after spending several years prosecuting individuals in the community for both felony and misdemeanor offenses. In her former role as criminal prosecutor, first for the Benton County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and later for the City of Kennewick, Heather experienced first hand the stunting effect that lack of education has on the community's youth. "In my experience, lack of education leaves an individual with fewer choices, which in turn leads to bad decision making, and in many cases, involvement in the criminal justice system. I saw it every day. Too many students don't realize the importance of education, or the major role it will play in their future success. As a member of the Kennewick School Board, I hope to foster awareness and inspire children to learn." Heather attended Eastgate Elementary, Park Middle School and Kennewick High School before going on to Washington State University in Pullman, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In 2004, Heather graduated with honors from Gonzaga University School of Law. Heather now works as the City Attorney for the City of Richland and resides in Kennewick with her husband Roy and their young children, Jackson and Madison. Heather can be reached at Her current term ends December 31, 2017.

Dawn Adams,
Position 2, President

Dawn Adams was originally appointed to the board in May of 2001 and was elected to her first full term in office in November that year. She was re-elected to another four-year term in November of 2005. Dawn cites a desire to give back to her community and pursue volunteerism activities impacting kids in a positive way as the main reasons for her seeking the school board position. Dawn embraces education as a core value. "My objective is to understand and represent the diverse needs of the constituents of our community, and respond through the District by providing opportunities for each child to advance academically to his/her potential," adds Dawn. Dawn is no stranger to the Kennewick School District. A native of Kennewick, her father worked for thirty years in the district, and Dawn attended Kennewick schools before moving on to earn her BA in business administration/information systems, and an MS in computer science from Washington State University. Dawn recently joined Parsons as a Senior Program Director working out of the Richland Office, after having worked at Hanford for 24 years. Dawn's husband is Erick En'Wezoh, and they have four sons (Derick, Jordan, Brandon, and Zachary.) Dawn's email address is Her current term ends December 31, 2017.

Ben Messinger
Position 3

Ben Messinger was elected to the board in November, 2011. His motivations to serve include loyalty to the community, an enthusiasm for education, and a desire for children to be granted every opportunity to achieve their potential. Ben is a practicing Certified Financial Planner® and has lived and worked in Kennewick since graduation from Eastern Washington University in 1996. "My wife Jamie's education is in early childhood development and literacy. Mine is in business and finance so it makes us a very well rounded household. Jamie's example as a mother and educator combined with my own observations as a professional have cultivated my strong convictions regarding the importance of our public schools."

As both a father of school-age children and local employer Ben has a deep interest in the success of Kennewick students. "My work as a financial planner has exposed me to thousands of people working to achieve the life they want for both themselves and their families. Without any doubt, education is a key element for making those dreams reality. Educational requirements are expanding in all career sectors. The responsibility of preparing our children for the future is a challenge to be faced aggressively. The challenges are balanced by great opportunity if we do our part and send students into the world prepared." Ben's e-mail address is His current term ends December 31, 2015.

Position 4

Ron Mabry was elected to the board in November 2011. Therefore, the school board needs to be financially wise and committed to academic achievement. Ron cares deeply about the education of all children and will draw on his management experience and expertise to benefit both our schools and the taxpayers. "As a member of the Kennewick School Board, I will personally reach out to parents and educators to make KSD the very best it can be for all our children."

Ron attended North Carolina A&T State University. He completed college while serving in the U.S. Navy. In 1998, he earned an MBA from City College in Seattle.
