About Superintendent Lance Hansen
Mr. Lance Hansen began serving as Kennewick School District’s Superintendent on July 1, 2025.
Mr. Hansen actively fosters strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the broader community. He champions a positive, student-centered culture where all learners are supported and challenged to succeed. He brings excitement and commitment to partnering with the Kennewick community to strengthen the district’s schools and programs.
Before coming to Kennewick, Mr. Hansen served as superintendent of the Lewiston Independent School District in Lewiston, Idaho. Across 18 years in Lewiston, he also served as assistant superintendent, high school principal, assistant principal, and middle school assistant principal.
He began his career in education as a math teacher at Moscow High School in Moscow, Idaho, and as a Spanish and math teacher at Emmett High School in Emmett, Idaho.
Mr. Hansen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho, where he majored in Spanish and minored in math. He also earned a master’s degree and educational specialist degree in educational leadership.
In 2025, the Idaho Association of School Administrators named him Idaho’s Superintendent of the Year.
Mr. Hansen and his wife, Dawn, have five grown children and five grandchildren.
