Opened: August 2018 

Dual Language: Fuerza Elementary is the first dual language school in Kennewick School District.

Location: 6011 W. 10th Place, Kennewick, at the former campus of Desert Hills Middle School (Map)

Square Feet: 66,338

Spaces: Thirty classrooms with an enlarged gym and additional specialist and office space. The design was based on the new Westgate and Amon Creek elementary schools. 

Funding: K-3 Class Size Reduction Grant from the state

Construction Cost: $21,702,621

Week of 6/25/2018

Great Floors crews have installed the interior entry mat and exterior walk off mats around the building. Paintmaster crews installed the decorative vinyl wall covering at the main entry. Multiple trades are completing punch-list work throughout the building. Fowler crews are installing site furnishings and playground equipment. Bagley Landscaping crews have finished sod installation in the large play fields and are now focused on landscaping and planter beds around the building. KG Fencing crews started installing the decorative metal fencing on the east side of the building as well as continuing to work on chain link fencing around the site.

Week of 6/18/2018

Inside the building the final cleaning is underway. The flooring in the building is pretty much complete with the exception of entry mats and the stairway terrazzo. EVCO is testing their systems including classrooms projectors. The building fire alarm system is being tested and programmed. The elevator is being prepared for final approval and inspection. Finish carpenters continue to work on trimming the wall in front of the stage. Outside the building the landscaping crews is actively installing sod on the south side of the site.

Week of 6/11/2018

Fowler crews continue to install specialty items and toilet partitions. Beck Cabinetry's installation crew is working on paneling and trim at the multipurpose room stage and wood floor base in the multipurpose room area. EVCO crews continue to install, program and test their systems in the building. Great Floors crews are installing carpet in classrooms in the south wing and have started work in the east wing also. Creative Concrete crews finished the floor polish work in the multipurpose room. Commercial Curbing crews poured more sidewalks in front of the building. Bagley Landscape crews stared installing sod. Sod installation is complete on the north side of the site and is ongoing at the south play field areas.

Week of 6/4/2018

Inside of the building, flooring and specialty items continue to be installed in the building. Flooring on 2nd floor if the building is now complete. Perfection Glass crews continue to work in punch-list and misc. trim and finish items around the building. Low voltage and alarm systems continue to get installed, programmed, and tested. Outside of the building the last of the asphalt was placed this week. The grading around sidewalks is also complete. Final completion of the irrigation systems, plantings, and prep for sod is underway. Sod is expected to be installed next week!

Week of 5/28/2018

Inside the building flooring in the 2nd floor corridors is underway. Fowler carpenters continue to install specialty items, toilet partitions, and signage around the building. Diamond Electric, EVCO and Paramount crews continue to complete installation of, program, and test low voltage systems. Creative Concrete crews are finishing the colored concrete floor polishing work. Beck Cabinetry's finish carpentry crew also continues to install floor base and finish their installation work. Outside the building Bagley Landscaping crews are working on decorative planters and irrigation work. Commercial Curbing crews continue to work on sidewalks around the building. Paintmaster crews are applying the block sealer to the exterior of the building and exposed block inside the main corridors.

5/24/2018

Fowler crews placed concrete in the form for the flagpole footing. Other Fowler crews continue to work on pre-punch list items around the building. The Cabinet Guys continue working on MDF wood paneling around the security vestibule window and working on caulking and pre-punch list work around the building. Great floors crews continue installing rubber base throughout all carpeted room on the 2nd floor. Perfection Glass crews are installing metal flashing and trim around the storefront at the top of the main staircase. EVCO crews continue working on their equipment and systems in classrooms and corridors. Paramount crews continue testing data connections of the classrooms in the south wing.

5/23/2018

The Cabinet Guys are installing MDF wood paneling around the security vestibule window and working on punch list work in the administrative office rooms. Bagley Landscaping crews are working on irrigation in the play field area. Big D's crews are grading around the bus loop access road and south side of the building. Great floors crews are finishing the rubber base and carpet installation in the administrative offices of the 2nd floor. D9 crews are framing the roofing soffits at the irrigation pump house. EVCO crews continue working on their equipment and systems in classrooms and corridors. Apollo DDC controls crew continue to work on programming and testing their systems.

5/22/2018

Fowler crews continue installing specialty items in restrooms. Fowler crews are also making some concrete repairs inside the building and removing protective coating from the exterior drip flashing at the base of block walls around the exterior perimeter of the building. Big D's crews continue prepping for asphalt on the south side of building and digging for the flag pole foundation. Paramount crews are testing data connections of the classrooms in the south wing. EVCO crews are installing speaker units throughout the corridors and various other low volt systems. Diamond crews are working on the school marque, the blue light "lock down" system and various other low volt systems throughout the building. Great floors continue making progress with laying carpet and rubber wall base trim in east wing classrooms.

5/21/2018

KG Fencing crews have installed fence posts for the decorative metal fencing between the MCP and future portables area. Big D's crews are finish grading the base rock at the south play area. EVCO crews are working on installing their systems. Paramount crews are testing systems in the IDF and MDF rooms. Diamond Electric crews are working on exterior lights at the east wing entrance canopy and pulling low voltage wiring throughout the building for various systems throughout the building. Great Floors crews are installing carpet tile in the library. Creative Concrete crews are setting up to polish and seal the colored concrete floors.

5/18/2018

Paintmaster crews continue with finish painting, trimming and completing pre-punch list work around the building. Great Floors crews are installing classroom carpeting at the 2nd floor of the north wing. All of the 2nd floor north wing classrooms are now nearly complete. Diamond Electric crews are pulling low voltage wiring throughout the building for various alarm systems throughout the building. Jansen Industry crews continue installing the stage curtain. Fowler crews continue installing specialty items throughout the building. Other carpenters are working on misc. pre-punch list work. Big D's crews continue prepping sidewalks along south side of the main parking lot and building entrance areas. Other Big D's crews are grading around the curbing of the outdoor play areas.

Diamond Electric crews are pulling low voltage wiring throughout the building and installing exterior lighting at the east wing canopy. Great Floors crews are installing classroom carpeting at the 2nd floor of the north wing. All of the 2nd floor east wing classrooms are nearly complete. Paintmaster crews are finish painting, trimming and completing pre-punch list work around the building. Paramount crews continue to work on low voltage systems throughout the building. Big D's crews are prepping sidewalks along south side of the main parking lot and main building entrance area.

5/16/2018

Fowler crews continue installing specialty items throughout the building. Crews are repairing the shower stall in nurses room. Fowler finished pulling SKUDO in the multipurpose room. Royal Roofing crews are installing roof parapet coping caps and metal trim a on the hi-bay roof over the main entry area. Jansen Industry is installing all hardware for the stage curtain. Pavement Surface Control is laying out and anchoring parking space stops for kitchen staff parking lot. Bagley Landscaping crews have tested the irrigation system in the south playground area. The pump house equipment is functional at this point. Paintmaster crews are prepping & applying the finish coating on the MDF wall panels in the main foyer and staircase areas. Great Floors crews are progressing with carpet installation in the east wing classrooms on the 2nd floor.

5/15/2018

Great Floors crews are installing carpet in the east wing classrooms on the 2nd floor. Diamond Electric crews are installing lights in the administrative offices. Kilgore crews are caulking panels on the south end of the south wing and installing trim on the south side of the east wing. Paintmaster crews are painting under the main stairs, and prepping/applying the finish coating on the MDF wall panels in the main foyer and main staircase areas. Apollo HVAC crews are tying in the controls for the exhaust hoods in the kitchen area. Rogers Surveying is performing as-built surveying throughout the north side parking areas. Royal Roofing crews are installing roof flashing and metal trim on east wing canopy roof.

5/14/2018

Fowler carpenters continue installing specialty items throughout the building. Fowler iron workers are also installing the stainless steel hand railing's at the stairwells. Big D's crews are grading for sidewalks on the south side of the east wing and watering the site. Commercial Curbing crews placed concrete at the baseball field backstop. Curbing crews are also installing form-work for the next sidewalk installation at the east end of the east wing. Paintmaster crews are touch-up painting in the east wing and wall covering crews are working on touch-up work in the north wing classrooms. Kilgore crews are installing the last of the insulated metal panels on the south end of the south wing. Diamond Electric crews are installing the stage accent lighting in the multipurpose room. Apollo DDC crews continue to test their systems in the 2nd floor mechanical room. Royal Roofing crews are installing roof flashing at the south side entrance canopy.

5/11/2018

Fowler crews finished the climbing wall in the gym. Carpenters are installing the track for the curtain in the health room and installing specialty items throughout the building. Perfection Glass crews continue working on the south main entrance doors and window frames. Paramount crews continue working on low voltage wiring and connections throughout south wing. Beck Cabinet installers are working on chair rail install at the 2nd floor conference room and installing trim at the built-in library shelving. Dupree Building Specialties continues installing vertical partition wall brackets, frame, and panels between the multi-purpose room and gymnasium today. ACI crews continue installing ceiling tiles throughout the administrative office areas, the kitchen, and the classroom wings. Paintmaster crews are painting the under-cabinet frames in the library. Other Paintmaster crews are installing wall covering in the first floor main corridor areas.

5/10/2018

Dupree Building Specialties started installing vertical partition wall brackets, frame, and panels between the multi-purpose room and gymnasium today. Big D's crews are grading for sidewalks on the east side of the south wing. Diamond Electric crews continue working on lights in the main entry foyer and admin offices as well as installing outside lights for main entrance. Fowler crews are installing climbing wall in the gym, patching around floor data boxes on the 2nd floor, and general site clean-up. Kilgore continues to install metal panels at the south end of the south wing. Commercial Curbing crews are pouring sidewalk sections at the bus loop access road.

5/9/2018

Commercial Curbing crews are placing flat curb at the southern most play area as well as the fire truck access road. Big D's crews are prepping for concrete at the baseball backstop. Kilgore crews are installing metal panels on the south side of the east wing and trim metal on the north side of the east wing. Royal Roofing crews are installing soffit metal panels at the hi-bay roof area. Diamond Electric crews are installing low voltage systems around the building. ACI crews are installing ceiling tiles in the east wing classroom corridors.

5/8/2018

Commercial Curbing crews are setting up more forms to pour sidewalks at the bus loop access road. KG Fencing crews are digging fence post holes along the east side of Penn Park. Big D's crews are grading for sidewalks south of the gymnasium. Bagley Landscaping crews continue working on sprinkler system installation at the south end of the site. Fowler crews continue pulling up the Skudo floor protection in main corridor. Other Fowler crews are working on a soffit in the main entry vestibule. Diamond Electric crews continue working on powering equipment and systems in the kitchen, lights in the main entry foyer, as well as low voltage systems throughout the building. Kilgore Crews continue installing insulated metal panels and trim on the north side of the east wing. Perfection Glass crews are installing the exterior storefront entry door south of the main entry corridor.

5/7/2018

Apollo DDC crews are working on programming and testing of the DDC systems. Testcomm is also on site starting air balancing testing. Kilgore Crews are installing insulated metal panels and trim on the north side of the east wing. Paramount crews are working on low voltage wiring and connections throughout the building. Commercial Curbing crews are setting up forms to pour sidewalks at the bus loop access road and more curbing around the large play are south of the building. Royal Roofing crews continue installing metal capping and parapet capping around the roof. Fowler crews continue pulling up the Skudo floor protection in main corridor. Other Fowler crews are installing specialty and owner supplied items around the building. Bagley Landscaping crews continue working on sprinkler system installation at the south end of the site.

5/4/2018

Perfection Glass crews are installing windows with integral blinds and working on the doors in the multipurpose room and the gymnasium. Beck Cabinet's installation crews continue working on wood chair railing installation in the east wing. Other carpenters are installing window wills in the east wing. Royal Roofing crews continue installing metal capping and parapet capping around the roof. Fowler crews are pulling up the Skudo floor protection in the east wing corridor. Other Fowler crews are placing concrete at the entry vestibule exterior door on the south side of the administrative area. Diamond Electric crews continue running low voltage lighting systems including lighting controls, auto door operators and speaker systems. Big D's crews are grading for sidewalks around along the bus loop access road and watering the site.
