K-12 Services

Building Blocks of Learning

An elementary education lays the groundwork for a student’s future academic success. Our K-5 programs focus on developing students’ skills and knowledge in reading, writing, math, science and other areas. Our elementary educators work to build not only students’ abilities, but also their confidence and love for learning.

In the Elementary Education Department, we manage education programs and services in the district’s 17 elementary schools and the Mid-Columbia Partnership program. Our services include:

  • School choice transfers
  • Early entrance kindergarten testing
  • Disciplinary hearings

If you have a question about a specific school, please contact those schools directly.

Preparing Students for Their Next Steps

The years students spend learning in middle school and high school are crucial to their future success. In the Secondary Education Department, we provide services and programs to prepare students in sixth through 12th grades for life beyond after graduation — whether their next steps include college, vocational or trade school, or the workforce.

The Secondary Education Department is responsible for:

  • Vocational education
  • School choice transfers
  • High school transcripts
  • Disciplinary hearings
  • Graduation
  • Extra-curricular programs
  • Foreign exchange programs
  • Tri-Tech Skills Center
  • All middle and high schools

Section 504

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, commonly called “Section 504,” is a federal law that protects students from discrimination based on disability. Section 504 assures that students with disabilities have educational opportunities and benefits equal to those provided to students without disabilities. To be eligible, a student must have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity.

Parents & legal guardians have the right to be informed by the school district of your rights under Section 504. This is a notice of yours and your child’s rights under Section 504 and the rights you have if you disagree with the school district’s decisions.
